Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is an initiative taken by the government to provide housing loans at nominal rates to all poor people living in India. PM Awas Yojana 2023
PMAY scheme was brought into action by the current prime minister, Narendra Modi, in June 2015. The scheme was designed to propel the notion of “housing facilities for all”. The government proposes that this scheme will help build 2 crores homes for poor people by the end of March 2022.

Under this scheme, the government will provide home loans to rural and urban poor people at nominal rates and offer a subsidy on interest payable with EMI. The scheme was later joined with other various schemes like Ujjawala Yojana for LPG connection, Jan Dhan for having proper facilities to maintain finances, Saubhagya Yojana for having good Electricity connection, and others like having a toilet in the house, adequate drinking water and cleanliness to upgrade the living of the Rural and Urban poor people in India. All the schemes, as mentioned earlier, are also part of the government and were launched under Modi Sarkaar.
PMAY List 2023
Under this scheme, affordable housing solutions are provided to Rural and urban poor people. This scheme is broken down into two parts:
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for Gramin and Rural people: It is also known as PMAY-G with the main motive to provide the best housing facilities to people living in rural areas.
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for Urban people: It is also known as PMAY-U and aims to help urban people obtain better homes.

PMAY Schemes’ Eligibility Criteria
- The beneficiary should be below 70 years of age.
- For Economic Weaker Section, the income limit is ₹3 lakhs per annum. For the Lower Income Group, the income limit is ₹6 lakhs per annum. For Middle Income Group 1, the income limit is between ₹6-12 lakhs per annum, and for Middle Income Group 2, the income limit is between ₹12-18 lakhs per annum.
- The beneficiary should neither have his own house nor should their family member own any home.
- The beneficiary should not avail of any prior subsidy from the central or state government for a home loan.
- Only people from Economic Weaker Section and Lower Income Groups can avail of loan for home improvements or renovation.
- The houses built under this scheme will be owned solely by women or jointly with men.
How to Apply for PMAY Scheme?
You can easily apply for the PMAY scheme if you pass the eligibility criteria for applying. The steps to apply online are mentioned below:
- Log in to the official government website https://pmaymis.gov.in/
- Under the Citizen Assessment option, select either ‘Slum Dwellers’ or ‘Benefits Under 3 Components’ according to your category.
- Enter the Aadhar card details and verify your Aadhar card.
- Once your Aadhar details are verified, fill in your accurate details in that portal.
- Enter the ‘Captcha’, and your request is submitted.
If you are not able to submit your form online, then you can simply visit the bank registered under the PMAY scheme or Common Service Centre (which are sun by the state government). You just have to pay ₹25+GST amount for the offline application form. Fill in your details and submit it back to the authorities.
How to Download PMAY Online Form?
Follow the steps to download PMAY online form:
- Visit PMAY official website and log in with your credentials.
- Press the Citizen Assessment option and from the drop-down menu – select Print Assessment.
- You just need to provide your basic details to print the form.
- Fill in the details as per the instructions given on the form. Make sure the information provided by you is accurate and updated to date; otherwise, your application will get rejected, and you won’t be able to apply again. However, you can change your details by logging in again on the same portal with your credentials. But, just to avoid any mishap, fill in the correct details.
- After filling in your details, click on the print option, and you can get that form downloaded on your device.
Last Date to Apply for PMAY Scheme
Earlier, the last date to apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(PMAY) was on March 31, 2022, but this date has been extended till December 31, 2024, as conveyed by the Union cabinet. And the total target has also been revised from two crore houses to 2.95 crore houses.

Good afternoon sir, I have applied for Pradhan mantri avas yojana scheme in July 2019. all required documents have submitted to the bank named Karnataka bank, nagori branch, kankanady post, Mangalore -575002. till now we have not received subsidy. when we enquire in bank they say that the portal is closed at present but we applied in July 2019 . please suggest us what to be done for this
