Is The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 The Last Season?

The dystopian thriller The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu will end with its sixth and final season. In a statement he issued over the matter, Miller expressed his delight at being granted the opportunity to bring the show to a close after its sixth season. “Telling the narrative of Margaret Atwood’s ground-breaking book and the chillingly current universe has been a genuine honor for us. We are happy to deliver audiences a sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale,” he added.

We are grateful to Hulu and MGM for allowing us to tell this tale, which regrettably has remained as appropriate as ever throughout its run. On the other hand, we are thankful to our incredible fans for the unwavering support they have shown us over the years; without them, we would have never been able to reach this point.”

Even though this marks the original show’s conclusion, there are plans to launch a spin-off series. Hulu has already obtained the rights for The Testaments, the second book Margaret Atwood wrote. A portion of the narrative will be featured in the concluding season, while other elements will get carried over into the spin-off.

  1. To the writers of this show, PLEASE look at the books by Scott Westerfield, starting with “Uglies”. This would be a great movie, I believe and all the students that have checked out this series from my high school library.

  2. I can't wait till season 6 is out also with what else can possibly happen. Every actor plays excellent rolls in all 5 seasons. June she is one hell of an actor. I am waiting patiently.

  3. Please do not let this final season end without reuniting June and Hannah! I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for June to find a way back to her daughter before she is turned into a wife.

  4. at age 79, I'm happy to know that there will be a sixth season, and I hope I live to see it. it has been a thoroughly enjoyable series.
And I urge you to look up Elizabeth's series "The Shining Girls" on Apple TV +, where her character Kirby, is pursued by a time traveling killer. 8 very entertaining episodes.

  5. It's been amazing to watch all the amazing actors in The Hands maid Tale.I look forward the the 6th season ,and the spinoff. Thanks so much

  6. Super stoked for season 6! Am hesitant, too, because a happy ending would be so great……but I don't think that will be the case. It's sickingly errie how IRL and THMT are so parallel.
Thanks to the writers, producers & all involved for delivering us this twisted, yet beautiful gift. 🙌🏼 Praise be.

    • Elizabeth Moss is an incredibly, one- of-a- kind, actor. Am always thrilled whenever I happen upon a movie or series (old or new) in which the "More Detailed Description" lists EM as an Actor, Director, Producer (or all 3).
She's versatile yet consistent . She's "believable" in any role she plays regardless which "Hat" shes donned for the production.
The list of other actors of which I've held in the highest esteem is short: Jody Foster, Anthony Hopkins and William Hurt.

  7. Cant wait for season 6 to see what happens with June and Serena, also Luke and Nick. This is so exciting and it's going to be really hard to wait. So hope its sooner rather then later.

  8. HANNAH NEEDS TO COME HOME AND JUNE AND NICK NEED TO BE TOGETHER ALSO SERENA NEEDS TO COME WITH JUNE AND FIGHT AND HELP HER GET HER DAUGHTER BACK

  9. Can't say how much I have enjoyed watching this show. I was late to the game. I was at my daughter's for a visit and we decided to watch a movie. Now a days there is nothing good on TV. So we were happy to check out Handmaids Tale. 2 weeks and 4 seasons later, we've been hooked! Needless to say season 5 went by way to fast for both of us. Now patiently waiting on season 6 and sadly final.. How are they gonna wrap up the show in just one season??? There is so much out there with no answers yet! I guess it will be a wait and see. Looking forward to Testament, the spinoff and hope it's just as good. Thank you to the creators and everyone who has made this show a reality for so many. " Blessed Day" 😊

  10. OMG.. It's killing me haveing to wait for season 6. LLLOOOOVVVVVE that show. please hurry with season 6.

  11. I hope this season 6, isn’t the *last of *The Handmaids Tale… Maybe a spin off?
But also I hope they don’t make it seemed “rushed through” with these last episodes. Maybe longer episodes? Or more than just 10? I feel there is way too much still to happen without leaving us with a cliffhanger. If this ends with a cliffhanger I’ll be soooo disappointed! Such a great show! June (Elizabeth Moss) is ONE HE// of an amazing ACTRESS… She could definitely make this show last MANY MANY seasons more!

  12. Can't wait for season 6!!!! Please go out with a bang! and please dont end stupid! like what the!! make your viewers Happy

  13. I really want to see June and nick together and Hannah free. I also want to see Serena happy and free go raise her so. No more death.

    • Same here.. I’ve always wanted to see her and nick back together and with Hannah back with her parents. This is such a great show. I’m so bummed it’s the last season, but can’t wait to see what happens in the end.

  14. The Series will end the same as the book, for the most part. The book tells us that there will be no reunion. There is a book that follows called the Testaments. Hannah (Agnes) is one of the narrators along with Aunt Lydia and Nicole. I have read that HULU will follow the book ending and June will leave in a White Van in the last episode. Then they will start making the Testaments series.

Spoiler, Agnes will become an Aunt. 🙂

  15. Omg I love this series! I binged this show and still couldn’t stop thinking about it. The cast of characters are AMAZING, June is a badass!!! Aunt Lydia reminds me of the nuns at catholic school! I think Nick and June should be together I love their history. Serena should find Peace with her child.
I can’t wait for season six it will be bittersweet but maybe the spin-offs will be as exciting.
    Praise Be

  16. Love it, have missed it, am happy that the Producers are considering a 6th and final Season, even hinting at a Climatic, yet with a more positive, spin.
As I trudged thru the verbosity of the article, including Wo/Man Splaining of the first 5 Seasons to the unindoctrinated viewer,
I realized that the journalist omitted (aka ignored) answering the one question repeatedly asked "When?"
My sense is that "When" will be aired on the day after Never. Thanks , Your Loving cynic.
