OPSC Recruitment 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates from India are eligible to apply for the test. The following are the specific Eligibility Criteria that use:

Age Limit

  • To take the test, you must be at least 21 years old.
  • Candidates in the general category must be 32 years old, while SC and ST candidates must be 37 years old.

Education Qualifications

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an approved college or university.

Candidates who completed their SSC/HSC with Odia as their language of instruction are also eligible to take the recruitment test.

The candidate must converse in Odia and read, write, and speak it.

Eligibility

  • Only four tries are available to candidates in the General Category.
  • For SC/ST and PWD applicants, there is no restriction on the number of tries.
  • Candidates from the socially and educationally disadvantaged classes are allowed seven tries.

Application fee

  • Candidates who want to take these tests must pay a non-refundable fee of INR 500.
  • The application cost is waived for Odisha’s SC/ ST applicants and those with a 40% disability.

OPSC Recruitment 2023 Selection Process

Prelims, Mains, and personality exams are the three steps of the OPSC selection process. To be eligible for Group A and B services, the applicant must pass all three stages.

Stage 1: To advance to the next step of the selection process, applicants must pass the Prelims test.

To have paper one reviewed, applicants must achieve a minimum of 33 points on paper 2.

Stage 2: After the prelims test, the selected applicants will take the OPSC Mains exam.

Candidates must achieve a minimal cutoff mark set by the Commission to advance to the next round.

Stage 3: The Interview, often known as the Personality Test, is the last and final stage in the OPSC selection process.

The personality exam is worth 250 points, and the Commission has set no minimum cutoff for the personality test. The applicants will be chosen depending on their performance in the interview.

About OPSC

After splitting from the erstwhile Bihar and Odisha Joint Public Service Commission, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) began on April 1, 1949. The OPSC had three members at its inception, including a Chairman. In 1979, the number of members grew to five, and in 1996, it expanded to six.

The constituent Assembly felt the necessity to provide the Public Service Commission a solid and independent standing at both the federal and provincial levels to ensure fair civil service recruitment and safeguarding service interests. The ‘Federal Public Service Commission’ was given constitutional stature and renamed the ‘Union Public Service Commission’ after Independence, when the new Constitution for independent India took effect on January 26, 1950. By Clause (1) of Article 378 of the Constitution, the Chairman and Members of the Federal Public Service Commission became the Chairman and Members of the Union Public Service Commission.
