Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) has released a notification for the IRMS exam that will be going to conducted separately by the UPSC. Candidates will be selected on the basis of the exam. For candidates appearing in the exam, it is compulsory for the candidate to give prelims. And if we talk about the salary in IRMS, then it has different pay scales for the different posts. So this is basically Class A Engineering vacancies in Indian railways. So it was decided by the department that 50% of the vacancy would be posted through the exam and the other 50% through the department up-gradation.

The notification for the IRMS was released by the railway department, and the notification was released on 2 December 2022. The exam will be separately conducted by the ministry of railways and the Union Public Service Commission, UPSC. The notification for the exam consists of various information such as online application dates, eligibility criteria, selection process, registration fees, and all the required information. The Selection process for the exam will include three procedures Preliminary exam, the Main written exam, and at last interview. The job will be provided to the selected candidate from all over India. And the exam for the IRMS will be conducted online.

And the age limit of candidates must be 21 to 32 years old to apply for the IRMS. And the educational qualification of candidates is the most important part, so let’s continue with the minimum qualification of candidates that at least need a degree in engineering, commerce, or chartered accountant. 150 candidates will be selected for the IRMS in which, 60 from Electrical, Civil- 30, Mechanical- 30, and Commerce and Accountancy- 30. IRMS Exam Pattern 2023
Ministry of Railways, in consultation with UPSC and DoPT, has announced that candidates will be selected for Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) based on their performance in the IRMS Examination. The syllabus for the qualifying papers and optional subjects will be the same as Civil Services Examination (CSE). The IRMS (Main) Examination will consist of 4 conventional papers. The key highlights of the IRMS Examination are given below:
Qualifying paper :
- Paper A- 300 marks
- Paper B- 300 marks
Paper for Merit:
- Optional Subject ‐ Paper 1 – 250 marks
- Optional Subject ‐ Paper 2 – 250 marks
Personality Test- 100 marks
