‘A money-laundering investigation conducted by the ED has found that Amway is operating a pyramid scheme under the pretext of a direct selling multi-level marketing network,’ according to the agency.

“Without being aware of the facts, the general public is persuaded to become members of the firm and buy items at high costs, resulting in losing their hard-earned money.” The new members are not purchasing the items to utilize them but rather to get wealthy by joining, as shown by the upline members. The reality is that the commissions obtained by upline members significantly impact the increase in the price of the items,” the statement said.

“The whole emphasis of the firm is on disseminating information about how members may become wealthy just by joining.” There is little emphasis placed on the merchandise. According to the agency, to pass as a direct selling company, products are used to disguise the MLM Pyramid fraud.

Amway India stated in response to the charges, stating, “The authorities’ action is about the investigation that began in 2011. We have been cooperating with the department and have shared all of the information requested from time to time since 2011.” As part of our efforts to reach a fair, lawful, and rational resolution of the unresolved concerns with the appropriate government agencies and law enforcement personnel, we will continue to collaborate with them.”

Amway India Fraud Case

According to the Department of Justice, a federal investigation into money laundering charges against Amway has discovered that the firm is “doing a pyramid scam under the pretence of a direct selling multi-level marketing network”.

Most Amway items are “exorbitantly priced as compared to popular alternative products from well-known manufacturers that are readily accessible on the open market,” according to ED.

Between fiscal years 2002-03 and fiscal year 2020-21, the corporation received a sum of Rs 27,562 crore, according to the agency, of which Rs 7,588 crore was paid in commissions to associated members and distributors in the United States and India.

  1. Govt. should protect common gullible public by taking action on several companies running pyramid fraud under the guise of direct- selling multi-level marketing network scam.

Even the Enforcement Directorate said ” The prices of most of the products are exorbitant as compared to the alternative popular products of reputed manufacturers available in open market.”

“The common gulliable public are induced to join as members of the companies and purchase products at exorbitant prices and are thus losing their hard earned money”.

Several companies like Amway played major role in promoting the pyramid scheme by conducting seminars for joining members on the pretext of sale of goods by enrolment of members in a chain system.

“The promoters held mega conventions, flaunted a lavish lifestyle and used social media to lure gullible investors”.

Amway had collected about Rs.27,562 crore through its business operations, out of which it paid commissions of Rs.7,588 crore to its distributers in India & U.S.A.

“Amway has brought Rs.21.39 crore as share capital in India and the company remitted a huge amount of Rs.2,859.1 crore in the name of dividend, royalty and other payments to their investors and parent entities.”

  3. Amway is legal. Amway products are the best. I am a patient of anemia. I have been healed with amway Nutrilite. Amway products are not at all costly. I request the Law of the land to go into details and consider the amway patents over best products of amway. None of the products in the free market can compete with Amway products.

My neighbour works for this scam and I’m going crazy listening to her phone calls , she poses as a dietician and gives advice and sells fake supplements saying they contain nutrition from 100 apples in one spoon powder. Unholy crap. She also mentioned it has 18 vitamins , 18 proteins … She has no clue and heard from someone else..

Gullible uneducated or half educated even well educated people are joining after promising these supplements change health , you can be cured of literally any ailment by this…and also can make money.
She tried with me , I cut her short and told her I don’t believe in supplements but trust real food.

  8. my doubt is who is setting and declaring price of any product ? If amway products are high costly, then we see so many electrical products and their MRPs and their selling price is very different. Who will decide the MRP of any product? In the market also the label of MRP is different from their selling.. for example recenlty I bought one charcoal soap from outside store at Rs.80/- but its MRP is Rs.120/- how they can sell at this cost?
